James Congratulations
This week has been one filled with spirit, tradition, and the kind of memories that make high school unforgettable! Each dress-up day, pep rally, and game brings us together as one school family, reminding us how much pride and heart our students bring to everything they do.

Homecoming isn’t just about the big game or the dance, it’s about celebrating who we are. It’s about friendships, laughter, community, and showing that MP spirit in everything from the hallways to the Friday Night Lights. Whether you’re performing, competing, cheering, or just soaking it all in, take a moment to enjoy it. These are the moments that define your high school story.

We hope to see everyone at the Homecoming game tomorrow night as we crown our Homecoming royalty, cheer on our Bulldogs as they take on Spalding, and dance and cheer along with our amazing band and cheerleaders. Let’s fill the stands with spirit and support!

I hope this week continues to be one to remember because you are what makes Mary Persons so special. And when you wear your class colors tomorrow, make sure you remember your athletic wear because you earned it! Make sure that shirt and short lengths are within athletic dress code.

Happy Custodian Appreciation Day!

Today, we’re giving a huge shoutout to the amazing custodial team that keeps our school looking its best, day in and day out! Whether it’s early mornings, late nights, surprise spills, or everyday upkeep, our custodians handle it all with care, pride, and a whole lot of hustle. Their work often happens behind the scenes, but today, we’re putting them front and center, where they belong! Join us in saying THANK YOU to the incredible individuals who help make our school a clean, safe, and welcoming place to learn and grow.

Drop a comment below to show your appreciation to Mr. Alvin Shannon, Ms. Delores Hart, Ms. Tamika Brantley, Ms. Christy East, Ms. Tracy Walker, Ms. Shamere James, Ms. Sharon Hayes, Mr. Noland Smith, Mr. Doug Hall (not pictured), and Mr. AJ Turner (not pictured).

MP Students:

You've made it through another week , and not just any week, the one leading into Fall Break! That deserves a huge CONGRATULATIONS. You've shown up, put in the effort, and now it’s time to take a breath and enjoy the break you've earned.

Remember: "Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out." – Robert Collier
Every assignment turned in, every class you showed up for, and every time you kept going even when it felt tough, it all adds up. You're doing more than you think, and it matters.

So finish this week strong and leave school tomorrow afternoon knowing you've given it your best....and make sure you do it in Athletic Wear because you all have earned it! Make sure it stays within dress code (ie: shirts that are long enough, no hair wraps or head coverings, no cut out necklines, etc.)

Have an awesome, restful, and fun Fall Break! CHAMPS!

Another big win for Mary Persons with Bulldog Softball taking home a Region Championship. Coach Kicklighter shares,"The Mary Persons Bulldogs' Softball coaches are excited for this team to be Region Champions. Since March, these players have been in the weight room, participating in hot summer practices, and getting acquainted with new coaches. Being Region Champions was a team goal from the beginning. To see this team accomplish this goal is rewarding and exhilarating for the program. We are so proud of all of their hard work and dedication to Mary Persons Bulldogs Softball and we are ready to keep this season going." Congratulations, ladies, on your big win! #CHAMPS

This week has been a powerful reminder of what it means to rise above challenges. Each of you has faced moments that tested your patience, focus, or determination, but what stands out is how you didn't let those obstacles hold you back. Instead, you leaned in, pushed through, and found a way to grow stronger on the other side. That's something to be proud of.

Maya Angelou once said, "You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated." This week, you proved that truth. Defeats may come in the form of setbacks, tough assignments, or unexpected challenges, but you showed resilience. You proved the quote from last week and you came back stronger! You turned difficulties into opportunities to prove to yourself, and to others, that you are capable!

As we head into a new week, carry that mindset with you. Remember that each challenge is a chance to sharpen your skills, build confidence, and prepare for bigger victories ahead. You've shown that when obstacles appear, you don't stop, you rise. And that's exactly how you'll keep moving forward, one step stronger every time.

And due to our CHAMPS rising to the occasion, you have earned Athletic Wear for tomorrow. So that we can continue with this tradition, please ensure that you are following Athletic Wear guidelines in terms of shirt and short lengths. Have a great Friday, Bulldogs!

Hunter Dorn ranked within the top 2/3rds of the nation's high scorers and has earned the designation of a Commended Student.
