We have had a great week and we hope you are starting to see the results of your hard work, both inside and outside the classroom. Remember that success doesn’t always show up overnight; it builds through effort and consistency. Every assignment you complete, every practice you attend, and every positive choice you make is helping to build the foundation for what lies ahead.

There’s a quote from Zendaya that really captures this mindset: “Don’t try so hard to fit in, and certainly don’t try so hard to be different… just try hard to be you.” Staying true to yourself, working toward your goals, and supporting one another is what makes our MP community so strong.

Let's end this week just as strongly as it began with our earned athletic wear AND the Winter Pep Rally! Tomorrow we celebrate and recognize the dedication and accomplishments of our basketball, bass fishing, swimming, and wrestling teams. These athletes have been putting in long hours, showing incredible discipline, and representing MP with CHAMP spirit.

Let’s show up, be loud, be respectful, and cheer on our classmates who are doing amazing things. When we celebrate each other’s success, we make our entire school stronger. Don’t forget the Pep Rally schedule! It is below:

Pep Rally Schedule
1st block 8:00-9:18
2nd block 9:24-10:44

Let’s take a moment to recognize the positive shift we had this week. MP showed up with their best CHAMP behavior and were Courteous, Honorable, Accountable, Motivated, and Prepared! Growth doesn’t always happen all at once; sometimes it shows up as small changes that lead to big results.

As Taylor Swift once said, “Just be yourself; there’s no one better.” This week, many of you did just that and we couldn’t be more proud.

Be proud of the progress you made, and don’t stop here. Use this momentum to keep building good habits and finishing the semester, and year, out strong.

As with all great CHAMP weeks, you earned Athletic Wear for tomorrow! Congratulations! Let’s keep this going into next week and beyond. Stay warm. #MPProud #CHAMPs

Unfortunately, we did not earn Athletic Wear this week. Not earning an incentive can be disappointing, and it’s okay to acknowledge that. What’s important now is how we respond. Take a moment to reflect on what went well this past week and what can improve. Each new week is another opportunity to make different choices, apply feedback, and show progress in meaningful ways.

We see the work you’re putting in, and we’re committed to supporting you as you continue to grow.

“Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” -Oprah Winfrey

Tomorrow resets, so let’s make this coming week a great one! Have a happy Friday!

You’re off to a great start this semester! Keep showing up, keep staying focused, and keep putting forth your best effort, because these first few days have set the tone for everything ahead.

As Billie Eilish says, “You don’t need permission to be great. Just start.” Keep building on this strong beginning and carry that momentum forward.

Since it has been another great week, you have earned Athletic Wear for tomorrow. Please remember hem lengths in shorts and shirts. Keep it within Athletic Dress Code guidelines!

Happy Friday and remember to keep warm!

The MP wrestling program competed in the Region and Area Team Duals this past weekend. The girl's team traveled to Harlem HS placed 4th and won their history-making first dual as a team. The girls' team went toe-to-toe with Harlem in the first round, and lost with a close 36-42 final score. The team battled Burke in the next round and won 42-24. For the last round, the team faced Harlem again, determining 3rd and 4th places. Although they pulled out some great matches, a 36-42 score placed the girls' team in 4th.

The boys' team traveled to LaGrange HS Saturday for the Region 2-AAA Team Duals. The Boys' placed 2nd in the region tournament behind a very strong Troup team. First round the team deftly defeated Sandy Creek 65-18. In the second round they defeated Upson-Lee 59-23, and in the finals match, they fell to Troup 12-63. This score pitted the boys' team against LaGrange. This was a need- to-win dual to put the team in a position to qualify for the State Team tournament. The boys defeated LaGrange 54-27. With a top 2 finish in the region, for the first time in program history, the boys earned their spot to compete in the State Dual Tournament at Jefferson High School this coming Friday 1/16 and Saturday 1/17.

Way to go, Mat Dogs!

We have had a great couple of days back, despite the construction and traffic issues that you all have navigated like CHAMPs! As this new semester begins, it is important to start it off strong and keep that momentum going the entire semester. Completing your assignments on time, making good choices, studying regularly, and asking questions and for help when you encounter obstacles will all assist you in finding success this semester. As Will Durant stated, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” Good habits lead to success, so it is great to develop and refine these types of habits for continued success.

Also, because we are off to a great start, enjoy your Athletic Wear for tomorrow and keep it within the guidelines of Athletic Dress Code.

And because many of you make arrangements early, please note the following concerning Spring Final Exams:

"As you begin making travel arrangements for the end of this school year and for future years, we would like to remind families to carefully consider our final exam schedule when planning trips.

Final exams are administered during the last two days of each semester (With the exception of senior spring exams which are typically held the week prior to Senior Week and graduation.) On the first exam day, students will take 1st and 3rd block exams; on the second exam day, students will take 2nd and 4th block exams.

Because final exams are a significant component of each course, students who miss a final exam due to vacation, early travel, or flight scheduling will receive a zero for that exam. Additionally, all students are dismissed at 9:15 am after the first exam and 12:15 p.m. after the second on exam days, and we are unable to accommodate early checkouts during the exam periods. We ask that all travel plans be scheduled with this dismissal time in mind.

For your planning convenience, the academic calendars for the 2025–2026, 2026–2027, and 2027–2028 school years are posted on the MC Schools' homepage and available for review.

Also, please note that a medical excuse will be required to make up any missed exams due to illness on exam dates."

Keep up the good work and let’s make this a great semester!

Only one more day, CHAMPS, and for some of you, the break has already begun! A couple of reminders for tomorrow (For those of you with exams and other information):

1. Arrive on time! You will not be admitted into the testing environment late and may receive a zero for the exam.
2. No checkouts during exam time. Early release begins at 9:50 and at 12:15.
3. If you are approved to make up an exam, you must come on the day assigned by the front office (January 5 or 6).
4. Remember that basketball game tickets can be purchased for a discount in the front office during school hours. Come support your friends and teams!
5. You may wear Athletic Wear tomorrow because you earned the incentive for the 3rd Day in a row! Great work!

As we approach the upcoming break, we want to wish each of you time to rest, recharge, and take care of yourselves. Whether you’re traveling, spending time with loved ones, catching up on hobbies, or simply enjoying a change of pace, we hope the break brings you moments of calm and joy.

As author Anne Lamott reminds us, “Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” We hope this break gives you the chance to unplug, reflect, and return feeling refreshed and ready to start a new semester with your new courses/teachers.

Thank you for the hard work and effort you have shown this term. We are proud of you, and we look forward to welcoming you back rested and ready for what’s ahead.

Have a safe, restful, and enjoyable break!

The end of a semester can be stressful. Exams, final grades, athletic seasons ending, and the anticipation of the holiday break can make it harder to make positive choices and, unfortunately, we did not earn Athletic Wear this week.
But we are MP, and we are CHAMPs! We promote being Courteous, Honorable, Accountable, Motivated, and Prepared, and we can always rise to the occasion.

“Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’” -Mary Anne Radmacher

Let’s rise up, MP, and try again tomorrow! To help motivate you, we have a challenge: as an MP Team, let’s choose to be CHAMPs for the next few days to earn Athletic Wear from Wednesday through Friday next week. If we maintain CHAMP behavior through Thursday, we will earn a 3-day Athletic Wear incentive starting as early as Wednesday, December 17.
An email will be sent out Tuesday through Thursday to let you know if Athletic Wear was earned for the following day, so make sure to check your email!

Reminders:
1. Tomorrow is the last day to return your exemption forms signed by a parent/guardian. Late forms will not be accepted.
2. The US History EOC is tomorrow. If you are scheduled to take it, make sure your Chromebook is fully charged.
3. Exams next week must be taken on their scheduled days: 1st/3rd Blocks on Thursday and 2nd/4th Blocks on Friday.

Let’s finish strong, MP! We’ve got this.

Unfortunately, we did not earn Athletic Wear this week. Sometimes things don’t turn out the way we hoped, but that doesn’t mean great things aren’t still ahead. Every setback is really just a setup for a comeback. When things don’t go as planned, it’s a chance to rethink and approach things differently next time

Peter Drucker once said, “The best way to predict the future is to create it.”

Even when things don’t go as planned, you have the power to shape what comes next. Every choice is a chance to move toward something great.

As we move towards the end of the semester, we hope that everyone puts in their best effort to end the semester with success. Some upcoming events are as follows: EOCs are next week; make sure you come to school with your Chromebooks charged! Finals are on the 18th and 19th..Remember that exams are not given early, and they must be taken on the day in which they are scheduled. Students cannot be admitted to an EOC or a final exam late, so make sure you are EARLY! There are only a few days left until break; you’ve got this!

Things to note: Due to the EOC, there will be no homeroom next Friday, December 12. 1st Block will be extended until 9:56 am, and the 2nd Block tardy bell will ring at 10:02 am.
