Congratulations to these three CHAMPs for being selected as semifinalists for the Governor's Honors Program! They will now move on the to final round of selection. Congratulations, Joseph Allen, Grayson Bellwin, and Logan Romero!

It’s been a good week and that’s worth pausing to recognize. Weeks like this remind us of what’s possible when you show up and give your best.
Being a teenager today comes with a lot of pressure (academics, friendships, social media, future plans.) There is something you need to hear clearly: You do not have to have your entire life mapped out right now. This season of your life is about growth, discovery, and building confidence in who you are becoming. You are learning what you value, what you’re good at, and what matters most to you.
What will set you apart isn’t perfection. It’s commitment. It’s choosing to show up each day with effort, integrity, and heart. It’s deciding that your goals are worth working toward, even when progress feels slow.
As Dwayne Johnson once said,
“Success isn’t always about greatness. It’s about consistency. Consistent hard work leads to success.”
You do not need to be the smartest in the room. You do not need to have the most followers, the best clothes, or the loudest voice. What you need is consistency, showing up for yourself, even when it’s hard. Doing the right thing when no one is watching. Trying again after you fall.
Your character matters more than your popularity.
Your effort matters more than your wins.
Your resilience matters more than one bad day.
You don’t need to compare your journey to anyone else’s. Your strengths, your personality, your voice; those are uniquely yours. The world needs thoughtful leaders, creative thinkers, dependable friends, and courageous dreamers. You are becoming one of those.
Keep believing in your potential. Keep working toward your goals. And most importantly, keep being authentically you. The future is brighter because you are in it.
We hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoys Athletic Wear tomorrow. You have earned it!

Congratulations to Hannah Goodwin for being selected as a finalist for the National Merit Scholarship. National Merit Scholarship Finalists are the top academically talented high school seniors, representing less than 1% of the nation's students, selected from 16,000 semifinalists. Advancing to this stage requires top PSAT scores, a detailed application with a personal essay, high academic records, and a school recommendation.
Congratulations, Hannah!
Congratulations, Hannah!

Congratulations to our FFA Team in their performance at the Mid Georgia Pig Show at the Upson-Lee Ag Center this past Friday. Jameson Brown took home first place in Showmanship for his class, while the other members of the team received great feedback that will take them into this week's State Tournament. Congratulations, Jameson!

National School Resource Officer Appreciation Day is February 15, but we didn't want to miss a day in saying "Thank You!" to our amazing MP SROs, Cpl. Rodgers and Deputy Germany! Thank you for all that you do to keep our school safe.

Congratulations to Kyler Head for his 5th place finish at the 2026 AAA State Wrestling Championship! We are so proud of Kyler and the entire MatDog team for a strong showing this year. CHAMP!

It has been another outstanding week at Mary Persons High School! MP students continue to make good choices, represent what it means to be CHAMPs, and bring home wins across academics, activities, and athletics. The pride you show in the halls, on the field, on the stage, and in our community does not go unnoticed. You are what makes MP special.
“Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you, you.”-Beyonce
It is always important to remember that every single one of you matters. Each of you brings a unique skillset, perspective, and talent that no one else can replicate. It is the combination of your many different gifts that makes MP the very best place to be.
With every great week, comes a great reward: Athletic Wear Friday! And you all have earned it! Great job, Bulldogs. Just remember, ensure that your short and shirt lengths are long enough to remain within the athletic dress code guidelines. As we move into Friday, we hope you all have a great rest of your week and a restful Winter Break.

MP Swim ended the season strong at State at Georgia Tech this past week! Relay finished 6th in the medley and Isaac McKallip was a top 3-finisher finishing 3rd in the 100 breaststroke! Great season, SwimDogs!

We have had a great week and we hope you are starting to see the results of your hard work, both inside and outside the classroom. Remember that success doesn’t always show up overnight; it builds through effort and consistency. Every assignment you complete, every practice you attend, and every positive choice you make is helping to build the foundation for what lies ahead.
There’s a quote from Zendaya that really captures this mindset: “Don’t try so hard to fit in, and certainly don’t try so hard to be different… just try hard to be you.” Staying true to yourself, working toward your goals, and supporting one another is what makes our MP community so strong.
Let's end this week just as strongly as it began with our earned athletic wear AND the Winter Pep Rally! Tomorrow we celebrate and recognize the dedication and accomplishments of our basketball, bass fishing, swimming, and wrestling teams. These athletes have been putting in long hours, showing incredible discipline, and representing MP with CHAMP spirit.
Let’s show up, be loud, be respectful, and cheer on our classmates who are doing amazing things. When we celebrate each other’s success, we make our entire school stronger. Don’t forget the Pep Rally schedule! It is below:

Mary Persons High School celebrates its counseling department this week during National School Counseling Week! MP loves our counselors (Mrs. Lauderdale, Mrs. Burston, Mrs. McLuen, Mrs. Hamlin, Mrs. Roller, and Mrs. Fleckenstein). Thank you for all you do!

Please join us in congratulating Mrs. Samantha Trevitt for being selected as MPHS's Teacher of the Year. We are grateful for the difference she makes here at Mary Persons High School. Congratulations, Mrs. Trevitt!!

Let’s take a moment to recognize the positive shift we had this week. MP showed up with their best CHAMP behavior and were Courteous, Honorable, Accountable, Motivated, and Prepared! Growth doesn’t always happen all at once; sometimes it shows up as small changes that lead to big results.
As Taylor Swift once said, “Just be yourself; there’s no one better.” This week, many of you did just that and we couldn’t be more proud.
Be proud of the progress you made, and don’t stop here. Use this momentum to keep building good habits and finishing the semester, and year, out strong.
As with all great CHAMP weeks, you earned Athletic Wear for tomorrow! Congratulations! Let’s keep this going into next week and beyond. Stay warm. #MPProud #CHAMPs

Please join us in congratulating this year's STAR Student, Hannah Goodwin. As the STAR Student, Hannah holds the highest SAT score at MP on a single test date taken through November of her senior year and ranks in the top 10 percent of her class. She selected Dr. Sarah Williams as her STAR Teacher. Congratulations to Miss Hannah Goodwin and Dr. Sarah Williams for this prestigious award. MP is so proud of you both! #CHAMPS
Unfortunately, we did not earn Athletic Wear this week. Not earning an incentive can be disappointing, and it’s okay to acknowledge that. What’s important now is how we respond. Take a moment to reflect on what went well this past week and what can improve. Each new week is another opportunity to make different choices, apply feedback, and show progress in meaningful ways.
We see the work you’re putting in, and we’re committed to supporting you as you continue to grow.
“Doing the best at this moment puts you in the best place for the next moment.” -Oprah Winfrey
Tomorrow resets, so let’s make this coming week a great one! Have a happy Friday!

You’re off to a great start this semester! Keep showing up, keep staying focused, and keep putting forth your best effort, because these first few days have set the tone for everything ahead.
As Billie Eilish says, “You don’t need permission to be great. Just start.” Keep building on this strong beginning and carry that momentum forward.
Since it has been another great week, you have earned Athletic Wear for tomorrow. Please remember hem lengths in shorts and shirts. Keep it within Athletic Dress Code guidelines!
Happy Friday and remember to keep warm!
