Assistant Principal

Sarah Alford is in her 5th year as assistant principal at Mary Persons High School and has been in education for 15 years.   Ms. Alford received her Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education from Georgia College and State University in 2001 and a Masters of Arts in Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Phoenix in 2005.  Ms. Alford received a Specialist in Education in Educational Leadership from Georgia College and State University in 2009.  

Ms. Alford began her teaching career in 2001 as a middle school ELA and social studies teacher at Monroe County Middle School. She was recognized as the Banks Stephens Middle School (formerly Monroe County Middle School) Teacher of the Year in 2006. During the 2007-2008 school year, Ms. Alford served as a graduation coach for Banks Stephens Middle School and William Hubbard Middle School.  She served as the instructional coach for William Hubbard Middle School from 2008-2011.  At the conclusion of the 2011 school year, Ms. Alford made the transition to assistant principal of the Freshman Campus at Mary Persons High School.    

Ms. Alford is a member of the Georgia Association of Secondary School Principals and the Professional Association of Georgia Educators.  She is a 1997 graduate of Mary Persons High School. She is also a  2012 graduate of Leadership Monroe.  She has been married to Richard Alford for 14 years, and they are the proud parents of Brandon who is a 5th grade student at Hubbard Elementary.
